FAIR HOUSING MONTH
This year marks the 54th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, and gender is prohibited under this federal landmark legislation that became law on April 11, 1968.
Later amendments to the Act added safeguards for people with impairments and families with children. Fair Housing Month serves as a reminder that fair housing is not only a state and national law but also a fundamental human right for all people. We welcome all neighbors as members of our community, appreciating the contributions and diversity of people from many origins, races, ethnicities, and religious beliefs.
